Printama App – Privacy Policy

  1. Overview
    Printama Sample App is a demo application that showcases Bluetooth thermal printing using the Printama library. We do not require user accounts and we do not operate our own servers for this app. Your data stays on your device unless you explicitly share it.
  2. Information We Collect
    • We do not collect, store, or share personal information such as your name, email address, phone number, contacts, or precise location.
    • Bluetooth device information: When you scan for printers or connect to a printer, the app may read device identifiers made available by the system (e.g., device name, MAC address, and device class) to display and connect to your printer. This information is used only locally to complete the connection and is not sent to any server.
    • App preferences: The app may store simple settings (for example, selected printer width or your last chosen device) on your device using local storage (e.g., SharedPreferences). This does not include personal or sensitive information.
  3. How We Use Information
    • To discover nearby Bluetooth thermal printers and connect to them.
    • To perform printing operations you initiate (e.g., text, images, sample receipts).
    • To remember lightweight, non-personal preferences to improve usability.
  4. Data Storage and Retention
    • We do not send data to our servers. All operations occur on your device.
    • Bluetooth device info is used in-memory for connection and may be cached locally in lightweight settings solely for convenience.
    • You can clear app data or uninstall the app at any time to remove locally stored settings.
  5. Data Sharing and Transfers
    • We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties.
    • We do not integrate third‑party analytics or advertising SDKs in this sample app.
  6. Permissions We Use and Why
    • Bluetooth (and related permissions): Used to scan, discover, pair, and connect to compatible thermal printers and to send print jobs.
    • Android 12+ (API 31+): BLUETOOTH_SCAN, BLUETOOTH_CONNECT (required by the operating system for Bluetooth operations).
    • Android 11 and below: The system may require location-related permission for Bluetooth scanning. The app does not collect or use your location; the permission exists only because of platform requirements for discovering nearby Bluetooth devices.
    • We do not request SMS, Contacts, Camera, Microphone, or Storage permissions for normal operation.
  7. Children’s Privacy
    • The app is intended for developers and business use and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
  8. Security
    • Because the app does not transmit data to our servers, risks are limited to your device. We follow platform best practices and request only the minimum permissions necessary for Bluetooth printing.
  9. Your Choices and Controls
    • You can revoke Bluetooth permissions in your device settings at any time (note: the app may not function without them).
    • You can clear the app’s data or uninstall the app to remove locally stored preferences.
  10. Third‑Party Services
    • The app uses the Printama library for printer operations. The library does not transmit personal data to external servers.
    • If you connect to a third‑party printer, that printer is manufactured by a third party and is outside our control. Refer to your printer manufacturer’s documentation for its device behavior and storage.
  11. International Users
    • We do not transfer your data internationally since we do not operate backend servers for this app.
  12. Changes to This Policy
    • We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Effective date” above. Continued use of the app after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
